The Adventure Racing Ontario (ARO) Series recently rolled through Caledon with the Storm Adventure Race at Albion Hills Conservation Area. From seasoned vets pushing their limits to fresh faces dipping their toes into the mud, it was a gruelling test defined by standard Ontario spring weather, in this case, rain and lots of it!
The 6-to-9-hour Advanced Course put teams through a gauntlet of multi-stage trekking and biking across Albion, the Humber Valley Heritage Trails and Palgrave, and testing team’s paddling lines on the shallow Humber River. A massive congratulations to all the teams who showed up, battled the cold and kept grinding through the downpours all day long! The complete 2026 Advanced, Long, and Short course splits and rankings can be found at www.stormrace.ca/results.html.
With the official results from Storm locked in, the overall ARO series rankings have been shaking up and updated. Leading the pack across the province:
CoEd Division:
Led by Attack (Chad Spence & Julie Parent)
Female Division:
Led by the Tree Huggers (Barb Campbell & Heather Brown)
Male Division:
Led by Long Time Running (Richard Ehrlich & Mark Tarnopolsky)
Dry out your gear and shift your focus to the summer miles! The next official stop in the ARO Series is the Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race on August 8 in Wiarton. Teams will tackle the cliff-strewn shorelines, deep forests, and stunning waterways of the Bruce Peninsula. It’s fast, it’s scenic, and it’s bound to be another fantastic battle for series points!
